After all that walking around in the heat, we decided to seek shelter in a bar for some cold beer. Many were thinking the same thing because the bar we found was really packed. Since this is a food blog, I'll mention that we didn't have much for eats this day. Breakfast at Starbucks and for lunch we kept it pretty all-american and got a hot dog and some chix strips at the festival.
Later that night we headed back to the National Mall for the fireworks show at dusk. What an experience to see the fireworks over the Washington Memorial. They were excellent, but we were both surprised at how short they were at just 15 minutes?!
Booeymonger in Georgetown and for dinner we dined al fresco at the Washington Harbour at a Thai place called Bangkok Joe's. In typical fashion we ordered several items off the menu to share. We did this for most of our vacation. Top row: Crispy Crab & Veggie Wontons with a sriracha chili aioli (my fave) and Panang with fried tofu, egg noodles, spinach & beans sprouts in a curried peanut sauce. We want to figure out how to get our tofu spongy like that. Bottom row: Chicken Potstickers and Peking Duck Spring Roll with cherry hoisin dip.
